Young & Sons Feed and Seed The Young family has owned this farm supply store for three generations. Grandpa Young still comes in every Monday morning for coffee and a game of checkers with Bill Higgins.Bill has worked for the Young's since he was just a bare-foot twelve year old. Now he and Grandpa mostly supervise the younger Youngs. The building is in good shape and the Young brothers, Malcom and Angus, have done their best to keep prices low and quality high. Young & Sons Feed and Seed includes the following features:
- basswood construction covered with Paper Creek z-scale brick paper. An excellent effect.
- a red tar paper roof on the warehouse
- a diamond shingle roof on the warehouse office
- the warehouse is covered in tarpaper with battens to hold it down
- a loading dock that was built with individual boards
- piles of hand made seed bags and assorted boxes
- two scratch built trash barrels
- a pigeon on the roof
- a detailed utility pole
- an open loading door that allows you to see the interior of the main store. One of the Young brothers stands behind the counter
- concrete stairs with railings
- an exquisite Micro Structures photo-etched fire escape
- a beat up old fence complete with posters and weeds
The model sits on an 1/8th inch thick balsa wood base that measures 3" x 5 1/2". Measured from the bottom of the base, the highest point on the model is just under 2 3/4" tall.I will include a materials list and a brief how-to should you wish to match the scenery materials that I used to make this diorama.
