Whyte's Produce Co.
A Z-Scale diorama by Paw of a Bear

Back to the Z Gallery

Whytes Produce is based on Earl Smallshaw's HO scale model, Perkin's Produce. Plans for this model can be found in Model Railroader Magazine December 1974 page 54. This Z scale version of the model is made using matt board, bristol board, construction paper, Paper Creek brick, and Campbell tin roofing. As always, I added some changes to the building design.

Z-scale Whyte's Produce Co. includes the following features:

  • individually applied clapboards
  • N-scale tichy window castings
  • two rickety wooden staircases
  • diamond shingle roofing
  • scratch built wooden rooftop water tank
  • hand made chimney
  • hand painted sign on the building
  • ornate trim at the eaves
  • shed with corrugated metal siding and roofing
  • hand painted MakeMyModel box truck with crates in the rear
  • long loading dock with apple crates
  • a hand made tree
  • fully sceniced base

Unfortunately this was sold to a private collector before I took measurements. I'm guessing that the model was on a base about 3 1/2" x 5"
