Painting Windows, Doors, & Walls

I recommend that you start by painting or staining all the parts before removing them from the carrier sheets.

I started out by coloring my windows and doors with a Warm Black Prismacolor Marker. This marker has alcohol based ink which bleeds a little as you color. You will need to allow for that if you want two-tone doors.

I colored both sides of the carrier sheet which minimized the amount of touch up needed on the inside edges. Note that I left the door backs (D1 & D6) without color. You could use paint on the windows and doors if you prefer.

Then I knocked out any hanging wood from the window and door openings with a hobby knife.

Next I started painting the walls with Polyscale "Seaboard Air Line Yellow". I used several light coats of paint. Unless you really soak them with paint, the plywood walls are unlikely to warp. Many light coats is the way to go.

I also painted the door backs (D1 & D6) with yellow in order to have a contrasting effect when the trim is in place.

I also painted the trim for the eaves. I could have used the "Warm Black" Prismacolor Marker, but I choose to paint with Ceramcoat Black.
